Desigining the Nursery

So....I have been doing lots of research on nurseries and I am getting a little frustrated.  Decorating for boys is definitely a challenge, considering how girly I am.  I have gone back and forth between many colors, but I woke up this morning knowing what I wanted.  Mom and I literally shopped until we dropped today and still didn't accomplish everything we wanted to do.  We have found a few fabrics but we can't seem to find the one that pulls it all together.  I found the perfect one at Hobby Lobby, but it was all flowers and mom told me that I couldn't put flowers in a boys room :(.  We are trying to avoid a trip to Dallas if at all possible, and so far we are accomplishing our task.  I am loving what we have, but it isn't perfect yet.

A little preview of what's ahead.....

There are some special colors....but I am not revealing it all yet! :)

Stay tuned for more progress, I plant to paint walls tomorrow (with a ventilator of course)!

It's a Boy! :)

Shawn and I went to the doctor on Tuesday, April the 26th, and found out that we are having a little BOY!!  We both wanted a little boy first for several reasons.  I liked growing up with an older and protective brother so that was my reasoning.  Shawn is just pumped because the playing field is now even in the house (Ellie, Addison, and Myself vs. Shawn, Buff.....and now our new baby boy)!  We are both very excited and blessed!
My students are also very pumped and they all have advice on what to name the baby.  Especially the boys, they all want to give their input and they are driving me crazy!  Never would I name my child after a student... considering they are the last people that I want to think of when I look at my sweet child.  I did have one precious AP student bring me a blue cupcake in honor of the news.  I was pumped, hehe!

Have you heard the news?

On February 1st, 2011 we found out that we were finally pregnant after trying for quite some time.  Trying to get pregnant is not as easy as one might think!  But...the good Lord above finally blessed us with a miracle in my belly!  We are due on October 7th, 2011 and we can't wait for the fun to start!  I have been very blessed, because I haven't been sick once!  I know most people would kill for that kind of pregnancy, but I somehow got lucky!  I was extremely tired and very grumpy in the first trimester.  I honestly wanted to quit my career on a daily basis due to the high level of hormone fluctuation in my body.  YIKES!  My poor students have had to endure one cranky lady, but they usually deserved it! :)

I am currently 4 months/16 weeks along and I bought a bunch of journals, yet I never find time to write in them.  I don't know why I think I will find time to write a blog, but I am hoping it is a different situation.  My goal was to create this blog to keep a diary of everything throughout the pregnancy and then some.

At 6 weeks I took an "Intelligender test" from Wal-Greens to determine the sex of the baby.  My brother insisted that we pay $30.00 and try this silly test.  I honestly gave in because I was tired of listening to him nag me about taking the test!  As you can tell from the pictures the color definitely matches that of the boy.  Shawn and I both think it will be a boy, but we will find out for sure in three more days!  We are so excited and I can't wait to start decorating.  I don't know how people go until the very end and keep it a surprise!

On another note, I bought a fancy camera today (Canon Rebel Ti2), I think that is what it is called at least.  I bought this camera with money that I have earned throughout the year working overtime basically.  I have done a few extra programs on the side and made a little bit of money, so I figured it was time to spoil myself.  My goal was to have an awesome camera for when the baby arrives, and Shawn agreed.  So, I will be posting new pics as I learn how to take them!  Tomorrow is Easter, so I am sure I will have plenty of photo opportunities!
