3 months (January)

Jett's 3 months pictures are below!  He is almost 4 months as I write this post, and he can finally hold his head up on his own!  He can also stand in the walker by himself but he slobbers and drools everywhere!  He has been snotty for about a month now, but the doctors have told us that there isn't much we can do because it's not in his lungs and he isn't running a fever.  Shawn and I think he has really bad allergies.  So, that will be a major topic of discussion at the 4 month appointment. I hate hearing my baby boy struggle to breathe, it is a miserable feeling not being able to help him.  On the more positive side, he is happy and continuously seems to not be bothered by his constant snotty nose.  He is getting SO big, it is amazing how fast time flies!  Last time we weighed him, he was almost 13 pounds!

He loves to put his hands behind his head, he is like his daddy!  When they go up, we know it's nap time.  :)

I think he was waving at me again!

I just know he was saying, "Yo, what's up?" in a mobster accent!

2 Months (December)

This is WAY late, but better late than ever!!  The further I get in my photography progession, I realize how bad these pictures are....So, I am sorry for the poor pictures. I shake more than I realize.....maybe it's time to get the tripod out!

3 month pictures are coming up next!

Philosophy

When I got pregnant I read a bunch of information on the Internet about what to do and what not to do in order to keep the baby safe.  Amongst my readings, I read about not using skin care products with retinol and salicylic acid because they could be harmful to the baby.  Well, I asked the nurse and she said that I should never be using those kinds of products on my face anyways....so, I nixed the "Clean and Clear" moisturizer and zip zapper for 9 months. I have used these two products since I was in high school (nearly 10 years ago) and I just thought they were awesome!  Well friends, I am obviously not pregnant anymore and I have struggled with finding a good moisturizer while pregnant so I just gave up and bought "Clean and Clear" again.  After 9 months of using other stuff, I realized that "Clean and Clear" wasn't what I thought it was for sooo long.  I hate the way it leaves my face feeling dry and kind of crackly when I smile after I put it on.

Needless to say...I have decided that my neck and my face our kind of important things to take care of and that my skin has definitely changed in the last 10 years.  I feel kind of like an old lady or I guess officially a momma who has to use products to keep her face looking young!

I have always seen the "Philosophy" brand in stores like Sephora and lately I have seen it for a small discount at T.J. Maxx.  I could never push my self to spend the extra money on these "Philosophy" brand products.  I thought they were just overpriced and not worth it!  But....I got a steal of a deal from the Today show on a big package of 7 different "Philosophy" goodies.  It was over a $100 value and I think I spent $40ish with shipping and tax.  I honestly planned to give it as a gift and then when it came in I just couldn't stand it, I had to try some of their products!  I tried one and then I couldn't stop, I just kept opening up each little silver protector lid and before I knew it....the gift that was intended for someone else became my new treasure! hehe  Their Hope in a Jar is awesome for a moisturizer and I love it so much, I am considering buying the 8 oz jar for nearly $100, but before you gasp in shock, I have a %20 off coupon and it lasts for up to 8 months!

I'd love to hear from y'all about some of your favorite products!  Now that I am a believer, I want to go to T.J. Maxx and see if they have any good bargains on this brand!  I also bought some Christmas Philosophy goodies from QVC today for several people, so maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones on my Philosophy Christmas list this year!  :)

One Month and Counting...

Jett is already six weeks old and I am already so sad about how fast the time has gone by!  When people tell me how much he has grown I don't like it!  I know I should be happy about that because it means he is a healthy growing baby boy, but I just want him to stay small forever.  He smiled at me and his daddy yesterday (11/16/2011) for the first time.  This was the first smile that was real rather than from gas or other issues! lol  It was such a euphoric feeling for me because I felt like he was telling me that he loved me for the first time!  I texted everyone and called Shawn as soon as he did it!  As soon as Shawn got him he gave him a smile very quickly, so he didn't feel left out I suppose. :)  That's one smart fella if you ask me!

Transition Stage:
At the 5-6 week mark we are struggling to find clothes that fit.  Newborn clothes are too small and 0-3 month clothes are too big, so we are definitely in between sizes.  We are dealing with the same problem with his diapers, he is in between a Newborn and a size 1.  Another reason that I get sad.....I still don't want him to grow up.  I am afraid I am going to look up and he will be in college tomorrow!

Sleeping Habits:
Jett loves to sleep in the day and then stay wide awake from about 9:00-1:00 A.M.  After I finally get him down, he sleeps for a good 4 hours and then we are back up around 5:00-6:00.  Every feeding and diaper change in the middle of the night take roughly an hour to complete.  I have adapted for now, but I am not looking forward to the adjustment that I have to make when I go back to work in a week and a half.  Shawn will help if I jab him in the ribs but the poor guy would sleep through a bulldozer slamming into our house.  So, I guess I will have to do a lot more jabbing in the near future when we are both back at work full time.

1 Month Picture Session:
Round 1

Round 2
(lighting wasn't good and he wasn't a happy camper, but we got some)!

After researching cool ways to record each month on Pinterest.com, I just couldn't decide my favorite way.  So we are experimenting!

A Miracle is Born...

I survived the hospital, which I was terrified of the visit due to my ridiculous fears of needles, surgery and such!  After a VERY early morning of waking up at 5:00 AM and making it to the hospital around 6:00, we checked in just like you would to a hotel!  As soon as we got there they made me change and then it was time for the IV!!!  My most feared part of the day.......it did hurt, but it was more of a stinging uncomfortable nuisance that I had to put up with at first and then I got used to it.

I finally decided to get the epidural when I was dilated to 4 and then it was smooth sailing after that point!  I don't know why on earth anyone would want to have a natural birth, the epidural was amazing.  Honestly the IV hurt worse than the epidural did, it was a small pinch in my back and then all of a sudden I felt tingling in my toes.  There were other complications at the end of the birth but lets just say I am healing well and the baby is a clean bill of health! :)

God was watching over us that day, as He always does and he decided to bless us with the most amazing nurse.  This nurse happened to be the nurse that delivered me 27 years ago when my mom was in labor!

At 2:58 PM Jett finally arrived and was a whopping 7lbs and 13 oz and 20 inches long............we were all thinking he would be around 6lbs. So needless to say this was quite a shocker, I am glad we decided to induce and not wait the extra 3 days.

The official footprints!

Shawn and Jett's first diaper change!

Whew, momma was exhausted!

The official stats!

During the end of the pregnancy all I wanted was a cookie cake and Shawn got me a cookie cake along with my  beautiful push gift! I am a lucky lady to have such a wonderful husband!!!

One VERY happy family!

Finally ready to leave the hospital....(Notice the shirt I got for Shawn while we were in the hospital!!hehe)

Our little miracle.......

The Day Before I Become A Mother...

So... my vehicle has decided to shake profusely while in park and that in turn triggered my "Check Engine" light to come on.  All I can say is, I am glad that I have a dear friend with a mechanic for a husband!  Instead of sleeping in my last day before becoming a momma I decided to take care of my vehicle.....but no worries, I am about to head back to bed and watch some T.V.

Today will be a day filled with cleaning the house before we have a million guests over to see baby Jett and some major nesting.  My bags are pretty much packed and I think I am almost ready!

Okay......now for the real reason of this post, you have all been asking for pictures of the nursery and I finally took some.  I must introduce it with the fact that the lighting is terrible in the room and I really don't have the desire to photoshop every single picture that I took.  So I apologize for my laziness.  The room never seems to photograph well, I don't know why I have such issues, but oh well!

Drum roll please.............

36 Weeks and Beyond....

36 Weeks

Okay...so I am really behind on my  blogging and I am not 36 weeks anymore, I am actually 39 weeks and 2 days!! Final picture is at the end!  I can't believe I have had little Baby Jett inside of me for nearly 10 months.  It's is so funny when I tell my students not to mess with me because I am 9 and 1/2 months pregnant....they get so confused because they have always been taught that a pregnancy is only 9 months.  So we have had some teachable moments even though I am teaching Astronomy and not Biology this year.

I have been very blessed during this pregnancy because I haven't had many aches and pains.  And the ones I have had have actually been very easy to put up with.  My back was killing me for about 2 weeks and I finally realized it was my Reef and Sanuk flip-flops.  I had to ditch those and turn to my favorite Yellowbox brand.  So...note to self for the future.  I didn't think my shoes could have such an impact because they all felt so "cushiony"....but boy was I wrong.

My biggest fear throughout all of this and going back to work for the past 6 weeks was the fact that my water would break at school and Shawn would be working 40 minutes away at the farm and no one would be able to take me to the hospital.  Well.....I made it through my 6 weeks of working and my water didn't break.  Some kids were sad that it didn't happen and some were beyond excited that I was leaving because they didn't want to experience that in my classroom. LOL!!

It is all very surreal right now, I am finished working for 8 weeks and we will have a tiny baby to take care of in less than two days!!  A plethora of emotions are running through my mind right now.  When we picked our induction date, I thought I was going to cry a river in our backyard because I was so terrified about the whole process.  Now, I keep staring at the sonogram pictures and just keep wondering what he is going to look like.  I think I am past the fear stage and finally moving on to the excited stage.  My parents are beyond ready and I think my mom is nesting more than I am when she comes over to the house.  Although, she will completely disagree with that statement! The nursery is ready to go and my bags are packed!  I will blog on the nursery soon, everyone has been requesting pictures, so I will make that a priority this afternoon!  :)
