A Miracle is Born...

I survived the hospital, which I was terrified of the visit due to my ridiculous fears of needles, surgery and such!  After a VERY early morning of waking up at 5:00 AM and making it to the hospital around 6:00, we checked in just like you would to a hotel!  As soon as we got there they made me change and then it was time for the IV!!!  My most feared part of the day.......it did hurt, but it was more of a stinging uncomfortable nuisance that I had to put up with at first and then I got used to it. 

I finally decided to get the epidural when I was dilated to 4 and then it was smooth sailing after that point!  I don't know why on earth anyone would want to have a natural birth, the epidural was amazing.  Honestly the IV hurt worse than the epidural did, it was a small pinch in my back and then all of a sudden I felt tingling in my toes.  There were other complications at the end of the birth but lets just say I am healing well and the baby is a clean bill of health! :)

God was watching over us that day, as He always does and he decided to bless us with the most amazing nurse.  This nurse happened to be the nurse that delivered me 27 years ago when my mom was in labor! 

At 2:58 PM Jett finally arrived and was a whopping 7lbs and 13 oz and 20 inches long............we were all thinking he would be around 6lbs. So needless to say this was quite a shocker, I am glad we decided to induce and not wait the extra 3 days.

During the end of the pregnancy all I wanted was a cookie cake and Shawn got me a cookie cake along with my  beautiful push gift! I am a lucky lady to have such a wonderful husband!!!

The Day Before I Become A Mother...

So... my vehicle has decided to shake profusely while in park and that in turn triggered my "Check Engine" light to come on.  All I can say is, I am glad that I have a dear friend with a mechanic for a husband!  Instead of sleeping in my last day before becoming a momma I decided to take care of my vehicle.....but no worries, I am about to head back to bed and watch some T.V.

Today will be a day filled with cleaning the house before we have a million guests over to see baby Jett and some major nesting.  My bags are pretty much packed and I think I am almost ready!

Okay......now for the real reason of this post, you have all been asking for pictures of the nursery and I finally took some.  I must introduce it with the fact that the lighting is terrible in the room and I really don't have the desire to photoshop every single picture that I took.  So I apologize for my laziness.  The room never seems to photograph well, I don't know why I have such issues, but oh well!

36 Weeks and Beyond....

36 Weeks

Okay...so I am really behind on my  blogging and I am not 36 weeks anymore, I am actually 39 weeks and 2 days!! Final picture is at the end!  I can't believe I have had little Baby Jett inside of me for nearly 10 months.  It's is so funny when I tell my students not to mess with me because I am 9 and 1/2 months pregnant....they get so confused because they have always been taught that a pregnancy is only 9 months.  So we have had some teachable moments even though I am teaching Astronomy and not Biology this year. 

I have been very blessed during this pregnancy because I haven't had many aches and pains.  And the ones I have had have actually been very easy to put up with.  My back was killing me for about 2 weeks and I finally realized it was my Reef and Sanuk flip-flops.  I had to ditch those and turn to my favorite Yellowbox brand.  So...note to self for the future.  I didn't think my shoes could have such an impact because they all felt so "cushiony"....but boy was I wrong. 

My biggest fear throughout all of this and going back to work for the past 6 weeks was the fact that my water would break at school and Shawn would be working 40 minutes away at the farm and no one would be able to take me to the hospital.  Well.....I made it through my 6 weeks of working and my water didn't break.  Some kids were sad that it didn't happen and some were beyond excited that I was leaving because they didn't want to experience that in my classroom. LOL!!

It is all very surreal right now, I am finished working for 8 weeks and we will have a tiny baby to take care of in less than two days!!  A plethora of emotions are running through my mind right now.  When we picked our induction date, I thought I was going to cry a river in our backyard because I was so terrified about the whole process.  Now, I keep staring at the sonogram pictures and just keep wondering what he is going to look like.  I think I am past the fear stage and finally moving on to the excited stage.  My parents are beyond ready and I think my mom is nesting more than I am when she comes over to the house.  Although, she will completely disagree with that statement! The nursery is ready to go and my bags are packed!  I will blog on the nursery soon, everyone has been requesting pictures, so I will make that a priority this afternoon!  :)

39 Weeks

27 Weeks and Counting

Sooooo at about 6ish months I have started to feel the pains of pregnancy.  I guess I was just too lucky at the beginning!  I have a constant pain in my back and I am starting to feel Jett's foot in my ribs.  But I CAN DO IT!!  I can't believe I am almost 7 months pregnant and that he will be here so soon!  Some of the baby furniture has arrived and I am in love with the crib.  Mom and I are on the brink of getting all of the baby projects attacked!

Camera Strap Covers

For all of those aspiring photographers out there, I thought you might want some inspiration!  I found a store on etsy that sells camera strap covers and I just fell in love with them.  So....of course I said......I can make those and off to Joann's I went!  I had no clue what I was doing so I googled for "Camera Strap Cover Tutorials" and sure enough there are plenty of them.  Although, none were as cool as the lady on etsy.  I stared at the pictures from etsy for probably 30 minutes before I figured out that my pattern wasn't like hers.  So.....I made one and of course it was too small for my camera strap. LOL!  I think if I put some elastic in it I could use it as a headband when I am taking off my make up.  I ended up making a total of three and I am still not pleased with my work, but they are good enough for now.  At least I can tell between my camera and my dad's when we are at family functions. 

The first and third covers that I made.  The second one I made is on my camera and I didn't want to mess with taking it off!

If you want to make one of these, I suggest getting 1/8th of a yard of fabric for each side.  It was the perfect amount and super cheap!  I also want to add a lens cover holder to this, because I am always setting it down and forgetting where I placed it.  It will be super easy to do, I just never got around to finishing it because I moved onto another project!

Sewing Machine Cabinet

I finally finished the sewing machine cabinet!  I freaked out in the middle of the process and was concerned that I was inhaling too much wood dust, or paint fumes etc.  So....my grandmother, husband and mom helped me finish it!  It was a doozy of a project and I could have done it a lot quicker if I wasn't carrying the little one in my belly.  But.....he is worth it!  :)  My goal was to either do a shabby chic look or old world look, I couldn't decide between the two.  Without meaning to do so I ended up with the old world look and I absolutely love it.

  The finished pictures aren't the best, I haven't quite figured out all of the settings on the new camera.  But at least it gives you an idea of how much it changed!

Baby Crochet Hats

So...since the beginning of the summer I have decided to keep myself busy with arts and crafts.  I have become addicted to blogs, facebook photography pages, and pinterest in the mean time.  Joann's Craft Store must be loving me, because last week they had their Firefly Frenzy Sale....basically the entire store was on sale!  I really think I was in there 4 out of 7 days last week. 

I decided to learn how to crochet baby hats.....not the easiest task in the world!  My mom made my nephew a little bear hat and it turned out precious.  My sweet neighbor made our little one on the way a pumpkin beanie and then one of my students made him one as well!  I thought, O.K. how hard can this really be, surely I can do it!  Well... it isn't that easy!  I bought a book that supposedly teaches you how to crochet, and the pictures are more confusing than reading a new language.  Then I decided to digress to youtube.com.  I thought I could do the same one my mom did and I even tried it twice with two different types of yarn.  I ended up getting all tense in my shoulders and my fingers would hurt.  Honestly it was very stressful!!  I then gave up on that video and moved on! 

I have since found a puff stitch baby hat that I thought looked easy enough, and to my amazement I actually did it!  I haven't completely finished yet, because I want to add a brim, but it actually looks like a hat!  I am so proud.

Since the huge success, I have no found a baby cocoon tutorial and an elf hat tutorial.  Maybe I'll have them complete before the baby arrives!
